USDA REAP Grants

I write REAP grants for a flat-fee with no success fee add-on. We work closely with qualified solar companies (EPCs) and business owners around the country to help them write and submit high quality USDA REAP Grants of all sizes. We are working on the 12/31/24 deadline now. The USDA just announced another $600MM per year for this program for the next three years (2025-2027).

IMPORTANT NOTE FROM THE USDA: There is no longer a 3/31 deadline. They are “pausing”.

WASHINGTON, Dec. 19, 2024 – U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development Under Secretary Dr. Basil Gooden today announced that USDA will pause accepting Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) applications for the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP). IRA applications are those requesting federal grant funding of up to 50 percent of total eligible project costs. The last day to submit a new IRA application for Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 funding will be December 31, 2024, at 4:30 PM local time in the respective applicant’s time zone. This decision was made due to the continued overwhelming response to the funding opportunities made possible by IRA.

ATTENTION SOLAR DEVELOPERS & EPCs
We will happily work with you as well. We currently work with a dozen solar developers around the country.

HARD STOPS
THE USDA REAP GRANTS ARE NOT FOR:
Individuals, non-profits, starting a business, farming, agricultural applications, buying buildings, fixing roofs, or anything other than creating energy (usually solar). Also, I typically do not do EEI or Loan Applications. If you do not own the property, there must be a 25 year lease to the grant applicant. The grants will not buy property or houses or land.

ANY RURAL BUSINESS QUALIFIES.

Representative Sample of Grants Written.

Whew! What a great quarter for writing grants and we made the deadline on all of them… here’s a list of some of the grants we wrote. We are NOT hearing that the money has run out, so that’s a good thing for anyone that wishes to submit in the next quarter. We are starting to believe that this program WILL be continued, however, now is the time to submit.

Grant Applications We Wrote:

A water bottling company in Puerto Rico.

A soil amendment company in Colorado.

A glamping facility in Oklahoma.

A KOA in the Florida Panhandle.

A vodka distillery in NY.

An office building in Georgia.

A winery in Central Florida.

A solar developer’s business in Central Florida.

An electrician’s shop in Florida.

All in all a very good quarter.   Although most of the jobs were $1MM+, make a note that a few of the jobs were less than $200,000 so we had a reduced paperwork burden.

—-

You might be wondering how I got projects in the different states. In the prior quarter I created a referral program and it is paying off for me, and for my referrers.  If you send me a referral that is accepted into the grant program you get paid handsomely.

—

Now is the time to let me know you want to apply this final quarter. Thanks to everyone and I look forward to hearing from you.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

WHAT ARE MY ODDS? We have not heard that the USDA has run out of money. Yes, it is getting more competitive. Don’t spend your last dollar on this, but certainly you should submit if you are a profitable company.

HOW MUCH OF MY TIME DOES IT TAKE? We have this down to a science. It usually takes less than 1 hour of your time to gather the information that we need for the grant. (See the next item).

WHAT INFORMATION DO YOU NEED FOR THE GRANT? Click here to see our Paperwork Master at Dropbox that lists what we need. It is very easy to understand.

HOW DO YOU CHARGE? We charge a modest fee to write the grant and we do NOT ask for a success percentage. We ask for half payment up front and half payment when submission and receipt occur. Our prices go up on 11/15 simply to encourage people to beat the rush. It was crazy during the last deadline in September.

A recent testimonial I am quite proud of:

“ I had the pleasure of working with Robert Merrill Fletcher, a Chemical Engineer and grant writer, and I can’t speak highly enough about my experience. Although we faced challenges in securing financing from the USDA, Robert’s professionalism and expertise truly stood out throughout the entire process. From the very beginning, Robert impressed me with his deep understanding of both the technical aspects of our project and the intricacies of grant writing. His ability to distill complex engineering concepts into clear, compelling narratives made a significant difference in how our proposal was perceived. It was evident that he not only knew the grant landscape well but also understood what funding agencies like the USDA are looking for in a proposal. What I appreciated most was Robert’s approachability. He fostered a collaborative environment that made it easy to discuss ideas and concerns. No question was too small, and he was always willing to take the time to ensure I felt comfortable with the entire process. His positive attitude and willingness to adapt based on feedback made working with him a truly enjoyable experience. Robert is not just an expert in his field; he is also a great communicator who genuinely cares about his clients’ success. Even though we weren’t able to secure the funding this time, I felt confident knowing we had put our best foot forward with his guidance. His insights and strategic advice were invaluable, and I look forward to working with him again in the future.” Robert Jackson, ijaxon.com
