Tax credits are bought and sold with two main drivers for the discount rate. The first driver is the monetary size of the credit. Smaller tax credits are sold for more of a discount rate whereas larger credits of usually greater than $1MM in size command a higher rate. The second driver is “cleanliness” and this involves CPA statements, lawyer statements, seller indemnities and insurance. THIS IS NOT A ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL BUSINESS AS YOU WILL SEE FROM THE EXAMPLES BELOW. And yes, that’s my job, to help you as the buyer or seller sort out the proper fit for you.
